Exmouth Gulf prawn fishery

The draft Harvest Strategy for the Exmouth Gulf prawn resource is now open for comment.

Harvest Strategies are an important tool in the decision making process for the management of our aquatic resources. They provide a basis for informed dialogue with stakeholders and contain specific objectives, performance indicators and reference levels for the ecological asset.

The Harvest Strategy is supported by the fisherys’ Ecological Risk Assessment, used to evaluate the ecological impact of the fishery and the broader ecosystem.

Exmouth Gulf is one of our biggest prawn fisheries and recently received independent sustainability recertification by the Marine Stewardship Council, confirming its effective and sustainable management and operation.

To have your say on this strategy, visit our public comment pages for a copy, and our email and postal address details, and get your written comments in to us by 5pm Wednesday 2 June 2021.
