Department of Fisheries

The Environment

Western Australians enjoy a healthy and productive marine environment. However, our coastline, river systems and fish habitats are under pressure from population growth and increasing demand for natural resources.

Protecting the State's fish habitats is a core function of the Department. The current status of WA's fish and fish habitats can be found in the annual ‘State of the Fisheries' report.
