Aquaculture Nutrition and Environmental Management Research

Introduction

The Aquaculture Nutrition and Environmental Management research team undertakes a range of research projects where nutritional and environmental assessment skills are required, as part of the broader Aquaculture Development and Fisheries Environment Research Group at the Department of Fisheries.

The Aquaculture Nutrition and Environmental Management team undertakes research in four primary areas. These are:

• Evaluation and development of plant resources for use in fish feeds -
  • Using lupins in aquaculture feeds;
  • Using canola meals in aquaculture feeds;
  • Development of grain protein concentrates; and
  • Using plant oils in aquaculture feeds.
• Modeling approaches to diet design and management.
• Assessment and management of the environmental impacts of aquaculture.
• Diet development and management for new and established species.
