Changes To Recreational Fishing Licences

The Easy Way To Apply For Your Licence

Applications can be made on our website, at Australia Post outlets and at any Department of Fisheries office. You are not required to fill out a form when you apply online. By applying for your fishing licence online you'll help us reduce administrative costs and put those savings back into WA's recreational fisheries.

All revenue from recreational fishing licences is used to protect and conserve our vulnerable fish stocks and help ensure the future of recreational fishing throughout Western Australia. Recreational fishing licence fees will be spent on fisheries patrols, research and education – all aimed at the sustainable management of our fish stocks.

Recreational fishing licences are available from the following outlets:

  • any Australia Post outlet;
  • any Department of Fisheries office; or
  • by mail, addressing your application form to Chief Executive Officer, PO Box 7337 Cloisters Square WA 6850, with payment enclosed.

Please note: the RFBL will not be available online or at Australia Post outlets until 2 March 2010 onwards. If you wish to apply for an RFBL before 2 March 2010, you may do so at any Department of Fisheries office. Click here for a list of locations.
