Dr Karina Ryan

​Dr Karina Ryan has more than 20 years’ experience in the analysis and interpretation of indigenous, recreational and commercial fisheries data, and has produced over 45 publications.

Her background includes post-graduate research at James Cook University, Swinburne University and the University of Western Australia, then employment with WA Fisheries, the Department of Primary Industries (Fisheries Victoria) and the Queensland Department of Primary Industries.

In her current position, Dr Ryan has a leading role in the evaluation, implementation and analysis of sampling surveys to determine catch and effort estimates for recreational fishing, and the application of statistical techniques to fisheries data.

Her current research includes Statewide telephone surveys of boat-based recreational fishing.
