Government of Western Australia - Department of Fisheries

Statements of Decision

Under the Fish Resources Management Act 1994, the Chief Executive Officer may grant, vary or transfer an aquaculture licence.

Once the Department has received a completed application for the grant or variation of an aquaculture licence, the application is reviewed by the Aquaculture Branch and internal and external consultation processes follow.

Comments are sought from internal staff, the public, industry and other stakeholders.

Following consultation, and with consideration to Administrative Guideline No. 1 Assessment of Applications for Authorisations for Aquaculture and Pearling in Coastal Waters of Western Australia, advice is provided in the Statement of Decision.

Any biosecurity or environmental concerns will subsequently be addressed in the applicant’s Management and Environmental Monitoring Plan, or covered by licence conditions.

Statements of Decision for recent applications can be viewed below.
