WA's seafood stars recognised at biennial awards night

The best of the best in Western Australia’s vibrant seafood industry were honoured at a special event in Fremantle last night that showcased the depth, excellence and vision of its participants.

The WA Seafood Industry Awards celebrates excellence in all areas of the State’s $1 billion fishing and aquaculture industries and the 10,000 people employed within the sector – from local fish and chips, to large-scale fishing operations, industry leadership, and support roles in safety and development.

The 2017 WA Seafood Industry Award category winners are:

  • Michael Kailis Leadership Award - Leonie Noble
  • Young Achievers Award - Asher Flynn (of Fremantle Octopus)
  • Seafood Industry Promotion Award - Mandurah Licensed Fishermen’s Association
  • Seafood Industry Producer Award - Ocean Grown Abalone
  • People Development Award - National Seafood Industry Leadership Program
  • Environment Award - Austral Fisheries
  • Research, Development & Extension Award - Future Green Solutions
  • Safety Award - Mareterram Fisheries
  • Seafood Business (Large) Award - Coastal Fisheries Pty Ltd/Seafresh Myaree
  • Seafood Business (Small) Award - Southwestern Fresh Fish
  • Seafood Restaurant Award - Mosmans Restaurant
  • Fish and Chips Award - Ocean and Paddock
  • People’s Choice Fish and Chips Award - Ocean and Paddock
