Look out for pest crabs

We are asking fishers to keep an eye out for any unusual crabs they find when fishing in the Swan River.

This follows the discovery of an Asian paddle crab – a highly invasive marine pest – by a recreational fisher in Mosman Bay.

Several follow-up surveys of the local waters where the pest crab was caught have not located any more, but public help is now crucial in finding further possible specimens.

A fact sheet is available to help fishers identify the crab.

Anyone who suspects they have found this species should call the FishWatch reporting line on 1800 815 507 or email biosecurity@fish.wa.gov.au
