Catch a freshwater fishing bonus on Fathers Day weekend

The 2016/17 licensed freshwater fishing season gets underway on Friday 1 September.

To celebrate the opening, there will be two licence-free days over the Father's Day weekend (2-3 September) so you can try your hand at freshwater fishing for free.

Normal bag and size limits will still apply.

Outside of this special weekend, a licence is required, except for those aged under 16.

There is also an opportunity on Saturday 2 September for kids to take part in kids to take part in Recfishwest's free fishing clinics and the release of thousands of trout into the Drakesbrook Weir in Waroona, to celebrate the work done by us to grow and supply rainbow and brown trout for South West waterways.

For more information see our recreational fishing rules.

You can also download our Recreational freshwater angling guide or pick up a copy from our offices and participating information outlets.
