Call for blue swimmer citizen science support

Building on the success of the popular True Blue Swimmer Supporter research project, our scientists are again seeking recreational crabbers to assist with a log book program taking place in the Swan River, Leschenault Estuary and wider Bunbury area.

The project is seeking the support of recreational crabbers to record and share their catch data to gain greater insight into local crab populations in south-western Australia. This includes details such as the number, size and location of crabs caught, and how often and what methods are used to fish for crabs.

The findings will help us gain a detailed understanding of crab catches and the effort that went into them, to develop methods for ongoing assessment of the stocks in these areas.

For further information on joining the project, please contact us by email or phone (08) 9203 0111.
